Stephanie Dowrick

Stephanie Dowrick is a New Zealand-born writer whose work has taken her to six countries, including Germany in the early 1970s. She has published two novels with Viking/Penguin, including Tasting Salt which was a #1 bestseller in the same year as her iconic best-sellers Forgiveness and Other Acts of Love (W.W. Norton in the US) and Intimacy & Solitude. Her highly praised book on Rilke, In the Company of Rilke, established her as a leading interpreter of Rilke’s writings. Since 2000, she has given spiritual retreats to many communities in Australia and New Zealand and has shared a speaking platform with leading spiritual teachers of our times. She is a committed peace and social activist, writing mainly for the Australian media, including ten years as a columnist for the Sydney Morning Herald and The Age (Melbourne).
