Armely Matas
Armely Matas was born and raised in Mindanao, the southern isle in the Philippines. When she is not swimming, writing, and painting, she drives fifty-two miles to Washington, DC where she works as a psychiatric nurse at a University Hospital. Although a study of her community based intervention: Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction with Low Income Predominantly African American Women with PTSD and History of Intimate Partner Violence was published in a scientific journal, she prefers to write creative non-fiction and fiction. She lives in Frederick, Maryland with her two cats. She studies with Natalie Goldberg, a Zen and writing teacher. A closet Tarot reader, she reads your cards with – a Zen twist.
