Do you have stories or poems you'd like to share with the world? Are you new to the submission process and don't know where to start or how to find publication opportunities? In this two-part course, we will demystify the process of publication and equip writers with essential knowledge and tools for submitting.

In week one, we'll break down the components of a literary submission, learn how to find journals accepting work, and unpack the language and process of submitting. Between the first and second meetings, participants will have the opportunity to practice writing their bio and cover letter and can send them to Chelsea for feedback. In our second gathering, we will review the Submittable platform, explore common dos and don'ts of submitting, and carve out time to prepare a submission.

Part workshop, part craft talk, this class will provide participants with a greater understanding of and confidence around the submission process.

A small number of Editorial Feedback Package deals are also available for those participants who, in addition to the class, would like editorial feedback on the creative work they plan to submit (not just the bio and cover letter they draft). With this package, Chelsea will offer both in-document feedback and general editorial observations, comments, and suggestions on three poems (not exceeding five pages total). Feedback will be sent within a month of the final class and will help writers better prepare their work for submission.

Testimonials:

"Chelsea is an excellent teacher who doesn't just tell you the right things to do, but advises on what not to do when submitting. She is extremely relatable and patient with her students. After attending the first session, I couldn't wait until the next! She provided relevant information and covered every step to get us started on our journey... I encourage anyone who wants to learn more to attend the course, as she takes away some of the mystery and all of the fear around submitting." — Trisha B.

"During [Chelsea's] program, I researched journals and submitted to four. I made it to the final round for one submission and had three poems and one article ACCEPTED by other publications. I'm thrilled! And, I'm encouraged to keep submitting. I'm very grateful for Chelsea's insights." — Jessie W.
